about me

Who am I?

I am a female interested in motorsport and I do hope to see more diversity in the sport. My name is Stephanie and I’ve started watching Formula 1 in the middle of the 2021 season, however lately I’ve been following a lot of the technical things that you don’t necessarily go into as a fan.

Evolution in F1 Engines

Nowadays (2022 season), F1 power units are formed by multiple comonents, 7 to be exact: ICE (internal combustion engine), TC (turbo charger), MGU-K (motor generator unit kinetic), MGU-H (motor generator unit heat), ES (energy store), CE (central electronics), EX (exhaust system). You’ve probably seen those elements when F1 shows us during Free Practices the “Power Unit Elements Used” statistic that ultimately determines certain penalties (as seen in the photo). You might be wondering what all of these components mean, but I’ll be tackling all of these soon enough in future posts. Today I’ll be focusing on the ICE and the way it’s evolved over years, mainly the engine or also known as the heart of the power unit.

Halo: A Revolution in F1 safety

I’ve decided to approach a widely talked about subject in F1, which at first was extremely surrounded by controversy. While the halo has now become an important part in the way a Formula 1 car is built, it hasn’t always been the case. Older F1 fans can remember the way those cars looked before and also, the way they’ve changed.

Scuderia Ferrari: 2022 season

The season is officially coming to an end now with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It's been a long season with ups and downs and the outcome couldn't have been foreseen at the start of it. While Ferrari started out as a dominating team with a powerful car, by the end of the season, Red Bull had already won the championship and by a good margin. The Scuderia found themselves fighting for second place in the championship after a tight battle with Mercedes in the second half of the season.

Matt Murray: A F2 Performance Coach

I’ve always been an ambitious person, always searching for something greater and chasing my dreams. Ever since the start of the year, I’ve been working on this special project that has really grown on me. After being able to build such a fanpage like @champsf1, I’ve decided to take it a step further. Therefore, this project is finally coming to life, making one of my dreams become a reality.

Interview

Tatiana Calderón: A Female Racing Driver

As I’ve said previously, this project is extremely special to me and having the chance to talk to such incredible people, is something really magical and inspiring. The motorsport world is big and we barely get to see a fraction of it, but what if we take a look behind the scenes?
